“Remote working”, “work from home”, “hybrid work model” ~ you’ve probably heard these terms a fair few times over the past couple of years.
If there is one thing we can take away from the COVID-19 pandemic, it has to be the landscape of flexible working. The pandemic definitely forced businesses to “pivot” in ways they never had before, and remote working was no exception.
On my recent trip to Darwin with my fam, I realised how lucky I am to be able to work remotely…
I can literally travel ANYWHERE and work from just about any location; I smashed out a few hours on the plane ride, logged on from the local café, and snuck in a few video calls throughout my vacay.
As a small business owner, I love the flexibility that comes with remote working. Here are just a few of the reasons why I adore remote working:
1. Although IM Business Solutions is based in Perth, we are proud to support clients all over Australia. This has brought my business endless opportunities that I could only have dreamt of if I was limited to Perth and its surrounds. Today, we are grateful to be able to support clients in Melbourne, Darwin, and beyond.
2. As a mum in biz, I love the flexibility to work around my kids. Whether it be daycare drop-off and pick-up or after-school activities, I can work around our ever-changing (and sometimes manic) schedule. And when one of my girls is sick, I can drop everything to take care of them. An added bonus is being able to spend quality time with the girls during the day – it’s a great way to break up my working hours.
3. My team are located across all corners of the country, and it has meant I’ve been able to discover some true gems that I may have never known about if not for remote working. I am beyond lucky to be able to build a team that I respect and admire, and I love giving my team the flexibility to work around their schedules. Bcos happy employees = happy biz owner!
And if that wasn’t enough of a reason to consider remote working for your biz (if you haven’t already), here are a couple of other reasons why I heart remote working:
